Hi! I just created the official Facebook page of this blog to consolidate things and for easy update. Also, I do microblogging there and lots of sorts! Please visit it, click the “like” button, and enjoy!!!
When the three of us were in college (we are four siblings), my parents did everything they can for us to attend college full-time. Many times, they sacrificed even their food and comfort to allot the money for our school fees and daily allowances (I helped my two younger brothers during their college financially when I started working). Now that I am working, every Christmas the people who are in my top list are my parents. Since I will be (very) busy these coming weeks (and I might end up working during Christmas), I set up an early Christmas treat for my parents. I am also missing my friends in Europe and wanted a place to hang out with a European vibe. So I brought them to L’Entrecôte Manila, a swiss- french resto. The foods there are relatively expensive, but our meal is discounted and I soooo love it! Oh yes, “discount” is my first love! hahaha! Thank goodness, Enjoy Philippines helped me with my bills which was so hassle-free! AhLAVHIT!
I knew Enjoy Philippines through Blogapalooza 2014 event, the biggest Business-to-Blogger networking event here in the Philippines! This blog was started as a hobby and as a way to cope daily stresses, but I want to put my heart and the whole me here. I thought of connecting with other bloggers for me to improve myself and this page!
When I attended Blogapalooza, I just learnt that there will be a new industry that is yet to emerge- and that is, of course, blogging! Thank you to Vincent Golangco, the founder of WhenInManila, and the whole team of WhenInmanila and OurAwesomePlanet. I was a witness of their hard work! Two thumbs-up for the very successful event! I also met there Lulu Nails and Dry Bar, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, The Mind Museum, Brownbag Coffee Solutions, and other big companies that soon to be featured here.
With only three months of blogging, I still feel awkward to be called partner with big companies but who are we to reject, ain’t it? In totality, as a practical person I never say “no” to perks while enjoying sharing good things, if not best here!
As I have told you “discount” is my first love, so I have been browsing the internet to search for discounted products and they are actually a lot that offering services up to 90% off! It seems too good to be true, and you will hear soon to others that they were actually scammed! So I have this fear of purchasing randomly through the Internet using my credit card for safety. If not credit card, you can pay it through over-the-counter, which I find it too much hassle, especially if you have fast-paced life.
With Enjoy card, just present the card to their partner establishment, and viola(!), partner merchants will give you a VIP treatment, and what soo much cool about it is goods and services are DISCOUNTED!!
Warning: next photos might cause drooling! Lol! Seriously, this is my first time to do food photography. I hope you will enjoy!
Eat salad first before meal!
The l’entrecote menu with unlimited fries!
While waiting for the main dish, I experimented again my flash!
We definitely ENJOYed the moment that was so hassle-free!!! Not yet a member? I strongly recommend to have one today! Sign up here! Enjoy!
I also want to thank L’Entrecôte Manila staffs for the very excellent service!

I randomly read this line in the Bible, which says “My people are dying because of ignorance.” This is absolutely true if we overlook the very important part of living- that is SAFETY! Most Filipinos feel guilty that maybe God is punishing Philippines because of the yearly wide slaughtering of typhoons, earthquake in Bohol, and other natural disasters that hit the Philippines. This is absolutely ridiculous! The natural disasters are due purely on the geographical position of the Philippines. Philippines is a very beautiful country that is rich in natural resources but also a dangerous place to live in because it lies in the what we the “ring of fire.” Filipinos should not panic, though, because wherever you go here on earth, there is always a Nature hazard. The phenomena mentioned above are not surprising events but must be expected and thereby we, Filipinos, must prepare and protect ourselves. If most people are aware of this basic fact, they must all agree that God definitely doesn’t hate Philippines, instead it is time to roll up our sleeves and do some.. um, actually, MANY jobs!
With the initiative of The Mind Museum, an open public discussion on “Why should Pinoys bother with Science” was held last November 30. Needless to say, I am an MS Physics graduate that is why SCIENCE word is indispensable in this page! I celebrated my Bonifacio Day at the The Mind Museum. I listened to various talks delivered by Mind Movers and participated in the open discussion on climate change, specifically, focusing on the recent unfortunate events caused by the supertyphoon Haiyan that flattened the whole Tacloban City and its nearby towns.
One talk that really caught my attention are the daring technological advancements of various countries like Japan, Netherlands, Malaysia, UK, US, and Russia to combat hazards brought by Nature, which was delivered by Pecier Decierdo, one of the Mind movers. I didn’t take notes but refreshing my mind, here are the few of the daring and ambiguous technologies to protect inhabitants from deadly natural disasters:
1. Tokyo’s Underground Temple. The gigantic underground temple is a 6 km long network of tunnels that channels away storm waters. The system has a price tag of almost $3 billion dollars! But I think, everybody will agree with me that this is nothing compared to a thousand precious lives and a billion-worth of massive destruction of infrastructures that can eventually affect the country’s economy.
2. Netherlands complex flood control systems. Storm surge is not new to other countries like the Netherlands. Most parts of the country are low-lying, and hence are susceptible to flooding and storm surges. Many structures are built for these purposes like the Oosterschelde storm surge barrier, Maeslant Barrier, etc.
3. London’s Thames Barrier is the second largest movable flood barrier and became a tourist attraction due to its aesthetic structure.
4. Malaysia, our very own neighbor boasted its own SMART (Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel) Tunnel. It will be a two-way purpose tunnel that will serve as stormwater tunnel and a highway tunnel.
Two other talks were on a) survival when no available clean water to drink, which includes on how to distill your own urine, etc; and b) pros and cons of using plastic for a sustainable environment.
The talks were proceeded by an open discussion with guest scientists Dr. Gerry Bagtasa (UP Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology), Dr. Mahar Lagmay (Executive Director, Project NOAH, PAGASA. Dr. Lagmay was not available and was substituted by BA Racoma and other scientists from Project NOAH), Dr. Gemma Narisma (Head of Regional Climate Studies Project, Manila Observatory) and Dr. Renato Solidum (Director, PHIVOLCS).
The scientific community once and for all ended the “baloney” notion of microwave pulse (a video that became viral explaining a possible climate engineering) that would have caused the supertyphoon Haiyan. Scientists called it complete “baloney”, which means NONSENSE, period!
A participant who has relatives in Tacloban shared her sentiments on how the Government- from national down to the local- should have a concrete disaster preparedness program. Since the term “storm surge” is new to us, Filipinos, she pointed out that there must be a dynamic multisectoral collaboration between the scientists, Government officials, media, and the whole public.
As the discussions went on, a GMA representative defended the side of the media wherein he sees one difficulty, that is, the translation of data from a scientific point of view to the general public. For example, scientists interpret weather forecast as probability of heavy raining, but to the general public, their main interest only is to know if it will rain or not. If the forecast fails, it will compromise the credibility of the scientists. The media are trying to balance out these two extreme spectra of the society, which as he said a pressure to their side.
Lastly, scientists agreed that next time, it is better to have a visual representation of predicted disaster to fully demonstrate the technical terms that could mean a “death” to many.
In my very own point of view, anybody who is a citizen of a country is equally a stakeholder of his country. Everybody should be vigilant, and start speaking their mind (sensible talks only) as a form a social responsibility whoever you are or whatever you do for a living. To educate oneself should not be a motivation to just merely step up to the social ladder, but a plain RESPONSIBILITY. This open public discussion is very helpful for us to connect and decipher each other languages, and settle on things. Supertyphoon Yolanda and other natural disasters are lessons learnt that there must be an immense program that should be initiated by the Government. I want to stress here that– Science and Technology, basically, drive the economical stability of a country (look at JAPAN, EU countries, South Korea, etc.), if needless to say, it is our only resort for SAFETY. Businesswise, any sane investor will put up business in a place where he knows safe. Furthermore, there must be a sense of urgency to secure our future and the future of this country.
“A single conversation across the table with a wise man is worth a month’s study of books”.
Gothic fashions are strong (if not scary) fashion statement, but can you pull it off with some playfulness and prettiness? This look is inspired by a former officemate (not the same department)! I had been fixated to her because.. my gosh, if you only know how pretty she was and the very reason that she dressed unconventionally- Gothic fashion! Whenever she passed by, she would flash a some kind of mystery that had an effect of pausing awhile..and thinking what’s heaven in hell, and vice versa?!!! She would surely capture everyone’s attention! I am not a tomboy, but there is somewhat an involuntary movement in me that I would have the tendency to be fixated at pretty faces and many times I would approach a certain lady telling her how beautiful her eyes, her body, and so forth. But of course not always on the face, I am far more attracted to ladies who have balls and confidence in their intelligence. These types of ladies are very beautiful in their own ways!
I don’t know my former officemate personally, but let me refresh her looks. She always wore black, her face was pale with expressive eyes and very inviting lips- living-doll is the word! Plus, it was an office setting (not a manga event everyday) so I was wondering how she pulled it off effortlessly! Sadly, I don’t know her whereabouts nowadays. For the meantime, I will try to model her for you!
Don’t mess with me, b***h! Deliver the report!
You are done? Good! Hahhaha! Seriously, the main elements of Gothic are heavy eyeliner and matte red lips (spare me because I don’t really know how to do perfect make-up. I don’t wear make-up most of the day). Since our objective is pretty Goth, there must be a touch of softness, hence I wore a lighter red lipstick and a necklace with a gem stone of pinkish color just to balance the heavy aura brought by the overall black ensemble.
Next thing is a general pretty goth, wherein you can wear anywhere (if it’s office, wear a suit jacket). Yeah, don’t forget to wear silver bling-bling- it is the very essence of (flashy :D) Gothic! Frequently, I see silver cross in them whether necklace or earrings. Can you guess.. that the cross in the necklace was actually a key-chain! I need to be creative y’know! I was not wearing Gothic, so I don’t readily have these bling-bling! These were not in my monthly budget so I have to haunt for good deals pa because they are quite mahal (expensive) in the mall! We, fashionistas, must be frugal! hahaha!
And surprise, surprise! Literally, a back-slash in the back.. LOOK! That is the reason why I wore stockings so as to balance the overly-exposed skin! Sexy dress became a classy Gothic look, ain’t it?
Last but not the least, is a streetwear!
Ah, Chuck taylor is definitely timeless!
Here you can play with accessories. There are lots of cheaper wooden skull bracelets that can be bought anywhere!
Aannd there you go! I am writing this entry sober from work but I need to finish this as promised!! That’s how I love my readers! Hahahaha! Btw, there are future possible exciting projects lining up! Stay tuned!
I am not really feeling well today that is why I took a leave in my job (which I am very sure my students are very sad for not having a sight of me! *sarcasm*). Instead of whole day bed rest, I went outside to help in repacking relief goods for supertyphoon Haiyan victims. Typhoon Haiyan flattened the whole city of Tacloban, Leyte and its nearby towns. Though, I don’t need to shout to the whole wide world, almost every year I go to relief centers to either donate or if I have time, randomly helping in distributing relief goods. But this one is the worst of all time, not only in the Philippines history but globally! It is really heartbreaking! But what can we do..but to move forward instead of pining on the past. I am sure this disaster gave us many lessons to learn. Personally, it is humbling scenario. On one hand, nature signals us to better look at things closely. Yes, I am talking on the scientific approach! As a hindsight, they actually forecasted that the environmentalist will be the highest paying profession in the future. But I think, overall, the whole scientific community and everybody are very indispensable in solving problems of whatever mother nature poses us.
As young as 9 yrs old youngsters are helping in relief centers.
While resting and waiting for the trucks of sardines, rice, and others to be sorted, me and my new friends had a selfie..
Then, work again!
After 15 min jogging, I immediately went there to help
Please help by simply donating, or better yet allot a time to help also repacking the relief goods. We have lots of them, and some relief centers are in dire need of volunteers! Here is the list of relief centers and drop-off points.
If you can help now, help now! You can help in many ways. DO NOT DELAY the good Samaritan in you.
As I was about to write this, I remembered a peer before who discouraged me to take MS Physics because she said I will be ugly, poor, and have no social life. This was a stab straight to the heart, and hence this became my driving force to prove her wrong. I finished last year my MS Physics, and had done some modelling stints. Though as I age, experiences molded me to become wiser. I soon realised that enemies are energy leeches, thus, I am not selective in choosing friends (I can be friends with anybody else as long as they can be trusted) but enemies. Now, I have a general rule that before becoming my official enemy, your résumé must say a lot for me to waste time for you! hahaha! jk!
I must admit, I had/have a hard time balancing my passion for science and fashion, and sometimes leading me to get stuck nowhere! But why giving up the other if you can do it simultaneously? You just really have to be very creative! Take for example my personal design on my new nail art inspired by a Helium (isotope) atom below!
The pseudo-macro scale looks like flower petals!
Beautiful, ain’t it?! Thank you to Lulu Nails & Dry Bar (sponsor) for picking me to be the first ever to experience their nail art design with nail art pen that soon to be catered in their posh space located along Greenhills, San Juan! The very advantage of using nail art pen is you can customise your own design! Observe too how precise the details are even if they are very minute!
Thank you also to Jonathan, the professional artist behind this gorgeous nails! He was laughing hard when I was explaining that the u is the Up quark and d is the the Down quark! He did his job well because he got a free lecture from me about atom, or particularly nucleus! hahaha!
As you can see, I never painted my fingernails as I am afraid of nail polish stains (turning nails into a yellowish due to random usage of other nail polish brands that can lead to nail breakage) but worry no more! What I love about Lulu services is they are using (top brand) soft gel nail polishes that won’t stain your nails. And ALSO needless to say, you will be pampered like a princess with their range of luxurious services! Plus, owners Tin Gocheco and Cherry Torres are very kind and accommodating- ah, talking on total luxe pampering!
